Picking a color for your shed

One thing to remember is that light colors don't get as hot in the sun. A white shed will stay cooler than a black shed.

Should I insulate my shed?

Unless you are going to install a heater or ac then there is no need to insulate. But I do recomend some type of material under the roof sheets due to condensation. Moisture will develop and drip off the roof sheets

Type of shed doors

The type of door that you decide to use with your shed is a big decision, remember that you will use the door every time you go into your shed, you might regret trying to save a little money now.     Walk in door ,  this is just a regular door like the door to your house. Pretty hard to fit a mower through one of these.   Garage type door , these are good doors if you are never going to use the over head space, for hanging a bicycle or anything like that, These doors should just stay on garages.   Double Doors , A double door is a good type of door, they can be wide enough to drive a riding mower through, and they look pretty good. But make sure it is a good one you don't want your doors to be sagging in 5 years. and if you have anythng setting around your shed they may not open all the way.  Roll Up Door . My #1 choice for  a shed door is a roll up door. There is no downside to a good roll up door. When they are open they tak...

The different parts of a metal shed

There is not really that many parts to a metal shed, Basicaly you have the Purlins, gurts, columns, Walls, roof, and trim,  PURLINS, are usually Z shaped, and they are located in the roof, as part of the structure,  GURTS,   They are usually C shaped, and they go in the walls as part of the structure,  COLUMNS, Are verticle gurts located in the corners,  One of the main parts for structure,  WALL & ROOF SHEETS, self explanitory,  TRIM, Goes all over the shed, You got the corner trim, The eave trim, J trim (for around the windows), There are literally hundreds of different types of trims

If a car happens to hit your shed.

If that happens you had better hope that you have a metal shed. wood is just not as strong as steel, so if your shed gets ran into and its wood , I can guarantee there will be some damage. on a metal shed too probably, but not as much and it will be easier to fix.

How to build a shed.

How to build a shed. Before that gets overwhelming there is one thing that will save ALOT of headache and frustration, And I speak from experience. The first thing to do. I mean before anything, # 1, draw up a plan, or order blueprints, whatever it is .DO NOT just go get some material and start building. A plan drawn up on paper is very valuable. especially if you stick to that plan Think of it like this if you were going on a trip, to some place you have never been before, wouldn't you take a map? Of course, otherwise you may end up lost, and have to go back and redo part of the trip. A map, or plan will help make building a shed much more pleasant, ...

One advantage to wood sheds over steel sheds

Metal sheds are heads above wood sheds in all aspects, But here is one advantage to wood vs metal. And that is very simply, driving a nail, in a wood shed it is easy to just drive a nail and hang whatever your going to hang on the nail. Now a metal shed, not so easy to drive a nail, you would have to run a screw, or maybe weld a hook, however you hang something up in a metal shed it wont be as easy as a few taps on a nail with a hammer.                                                          That maybe the only advantage.

Should I purchase a shed online?

If I was to  purchase a shed for myself. Here is how I would do it. First I would use the internet to learn the different types of sheds, compare sheds, and basically fill myself with all the info I could , then I would get in the car and phisically go looking . ( Really I'd just call Show Me Sheds (573) 544-3442)

Building Permit, Do I need one?

Depending on where you live , in or out of city limits, What neighborhood you live in, etc,, You may need a building permit, This is no big deal just go to your city municipal building and ask the building inspector, county auditor, anyone in the building should be able to direct you where to go,     Safety first, accidents last.

secrets to Buying a shed for yourself

If you figure the matereial cost for a shed you are thinking about buying, every time the price is atleast a 100% mark up, thats double and that is just special cases I'd say that most times it is more like a 400% markup, so if they are asking 2000 for a 8x12 then they probably have no more than 1000 dollars in it and if you offer them 1500 they may take it, more than likely they'd say try to get atleast 1750, show them 1600, stick to it and they will take it sooner or later

Ways to cut material for Building your own metal shed

What is the best way to cut metal when building your shed, one option is a cutting wheel on a 4 inch grinder. This way is very loud, the sparks are bad on your clothes, and just all around uncomfortable. But it is effecient, fairly quick, and cutting wheels are cheap, 1-3 dallars, Two discs will build a 8x12.

Longest lasting wood or metal

Here is one simple yet interesting bit of proof that metal sheds will outlast wood sheds. Basically think of it like this, you take a piece of wood and a piece of steel, set them both out in the woods, and see which one will be there longer.  99.99 % of the time the piece of steel will be there longer. So think ahead get a metal shed.

Picking the colors for a new storage shed?

Picking the color of your new shed is an important part of the process. Here are some tips that may help. Go out to where the shed is going to be placed, look around at the colors of things in the area, house, neighbors house, trees, fences, and pick colors that compliment the sheds suroundings, Stand on your back porch, in your driveway, at a window,  or where ever you will see your shed the most and picture it sitting there, you could even cut out pictures of sheds out of a something like a magazine, stand some distance away from the spot and hold them up to where it will sit Remember that you are the one that has to look at the shed, so make sure that you are happy
